All Canadian Provinces Saw a Rise in Job Vacancies in 2018's 3rd QuarterA new report released by Statistics Canada showed that an increase in job vacancies was experienced by all Canadian provinces in the penultimate quarter of 2018.

Over the three months, July 1 to September 30, 2018, British Columbia, Ontario and Quebec reported the most significant year-on-year increases.

An estimated 550,000 job vacancies were in Canada during the quarter, representing an increase of 83,000 job vacancies in comparison to the same quarter in 2017 according to Statistics Canada.

Speaking about the 2018 third-quarter figures, the agency said it is the eighth consecutive quarter to have a year-on-year rise in the number of job vacancies as well as the rate of the job vacancy.

Job vacancies rose by 19.4% in British Columbia – 17,950 over the same quarter in 2017. The construction sector led the increase in this province.

The other two in the top five are Alberta and Atlantic Canada province of New Brunswick with an increase of 5,100 and 2,140 job vacancies respectively.

These gaps were filled with the help of the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP). PNP allows each province to nominate skilled workers in line with its peculiar needs for permanent residence.

In 2018, Canada set a new entry record into the country and is still working to achieve a higher target against 2021.
